This felt like Opposite Day for the Calgary Flames. They played their best period of the season. Shots were 17-3 and goals were 2-0 in favour of Calgary. Hunter Brzustewicz even scored his first NHL goal (off a lucky bounce, but it counts!). The Ducks looked helpless outside of Dostal standing on his head to keep Anaheim in the game. That was the case until the hockey gods decided today would be the day Beckett Sennecke would score his first career hat trick. It all started just a few minutes into the 2nd period when some crisp passes set up Beckett with his first off a tic-tac-toe sequence. Then Granlund found him all alone beside Wolf and he put it home. Another young Flame Gridin laid off a sweet pass to Coronato to give Calgary the lead, only for Kreider to tie it up on a 2-on-1. It all culminated in OT, with another 2-on-1 where Beckett put the finishing touches on his hat trick and won the game. Honestly, can’t be too mad. Hell of a game from Beckett and a few young Flames.
