“This game will be one of my greatest memories ever because I was there with my two sons. I remember as they introduced the starting lineups they alternated between teams and listed their height. I thought FDU had no chance because they were so undersized. What they lacked in height, they made up with heart. The best description of the crowd is surreal. It was so overwhelmingly Purdue fans. And they became worried and tight early in the first half. I kept telling the Purdue fan next to not to worry because Purdue will win. I didn’t say a word to him the second half. FDU just never went away and with each passing minute the tension in the arena grew. We were chanting and cheering for FDU like they were our favorite team. It became obvious late in the game Purdue players were afraid to take shots. They played scared. With about a minute left, my youngest looked at me and said, “If they hold on and win, this will be the greatest gift ever.” They did and it was. ”
