“Very fascinating matchup between the Red Storm and the JayHawks that ended a bit awkwardly before getting the ultimate shot in the arm. After a hot start from St. John’s in the first half, they began to struggle hitting their shots. In fact, the first half turned into a struggle fest for both sides offensively. Both teams shot below 35% from the field with Saint Johns’s 3-point struggles being the most notable, 30%. Kansas stormed back late in the 2nd half, a 16-4 run created by gritty defense and rebounding brought Kansas within a point. Kansas then tied it with a crazy offensive rebound to set up the classic March Madness scenario. No timeouts, tied game, shot clock off. So of course Kansas ruined the moment by fouling endlessly. I know it’s strategy, but it sucks to watch. Thankfully Darling hit his first shot with the game winning layup to make sure it didn’t pay off. Hopkins really kept Saint Johns alive down the stretch and helped them go to their first Sweet 16 since 1999. ”
