“There is no better description for how the Islanders performed in the 1st period than the wise words from a friend of mine: “Islanders are really bad today”. Which is shocking since they had Sorokin between the pipes, but there’s only so much an elite goaltender can do when their skaters are getting dominated. Trevor Moore opened up the scoring. Then Anze Kopitar potted home a bouncing puck to put him 1 point away from the legendary Marcel Dionne and #1 all-time in Kings’ points. After that, Kempe showed off his speed and strength by literally lobbing the puck over Sorokin with just a single hand on his stick. I’d say Sorokin should’ve had it, but hard to blame him when Brayden Schenn literally crashed into him. After the 1st, it was 3-0 and I was ready to brush this off as a blowout. Instead the Islanders dragged themselves back into this game. All thanks to Trade Legend Emil Heineman, and Bo Horvat helped too. Islanders played much better, but Kuemper shut the door at the end.”
