“This game was pretty fun. I didn’t expect a pitcher’s duel, but that’s what we got with a mix of tension thanks to all the close calls. The first one came immediately when the Rays opened the game with 3 straight singles and Hancock looked like he was in deep trouble. He managed to escape it, but it would be far from the last close call we had in this game. Seattle rewarded Hancock by scoring a run in the bottom of the 1st which set him up for the win. Unfortunately, the Mariners’ hitters didn’t my feel generous enough to give him more to work with so Hancock’s balancing act was on thin ice before slowly cracking in the 4th and 5th innings. Hancock passed the job to Ferrer only to watch him fall through the ice and let Tampa take a 3-run lead. The Mariners got runners on base in the bottom of the 9th with Taylor Ward coming up to bat. Ward got decent wood on a ball, but it wasn’t deep enough to get over the fence and Mullins caught the deep fly ball to end the game and click win #6.”
