Two teams with New York in their name and very different outlooks on life rn. The Rangers were dead from the moment that report came out about Panarin not playing for “roster related reasons”. On the other hand, Palat had a great debut for the Islanders. A guy who had 10 points prior to being traded to Long Island scored a goal less than 15 minutes into his first game. He also helped Emil Heineman put the cherry on top of a comfortable Islanders win as the Rangers never had a chance. Zibanejad tried his best to give the Rangers some life in the middle of his underrated bounce back campaign. Still, he could only do so much while their goalie was getting pelted and sadly, that goalie’s name was not Igor or Quick. Instead, poor Spencer Martin got bum-rushed by Holmstrom and Pageau alongside a surging Palat. I can’t forget Barzal, but his goal was a beautiful team effort to snipe it past Martin. It’s a shame the Rangers had no fight, but that’s not surprising at this point in the season.
