“What a game and what an ending. First extra time & penalty shootout of the 2026 World Cup didn’t disappoint. Paraguay scored first out of nowhere and then hang on for basically 100 minutes (extra minutes). Germany didn’t have any depth to their passes and even though they put up the tie, they never looked comfortable. Controversial goal called back for Germany in the 2nd half of extra time where the goalie was bumped before the goal went in. I agree with the call, but I assume several people don’t, lots of conversation surrounding VAR now though. Penalties were even crazier with Paraguay up 3-1 with 2 penalties left and Germany somehow saves two straight and ties it up all for their 6th penalty kick taker to send it over the bar and Paraguay converts their last to secure their first Knockout stage victory ”
