“This played out like a pseudo playoff game. A play-in if you will with shades of the 2010 Flyers. Philly came out flat and Carolina took full advantage. While Philly got the first chances, they were non-threatening and the Hurricanes were back on their BS, blitzing Vladar and potting 2 goals past him. The Hurricanes were skating circles around the Flyers and the Philly-faithful were showing their displeasure with loud boos as the intermission horn sounded. Idk if the booing inspired something or if they got a rousing speech in their locker room. Regardless of what it was, they came out in the 2nd as a different team. While it didn’t lead to more shots, they won the puck battles they had been losing before. They managed to tie it up and then remembered the stakes. They played for overtime and got it, eliminating the Blue Jackets. Then they held on for dear life in OT and won a nail-biting shootout to eliminate the Caps and clinch the playoffs. The stakes alone made this so intense. ”
