As a Raptors fan, I don’t appreciate how close this game was. As a basketball fan, I’m glad this wasn’t a straightforward blowout. The Jazz kept this game mostly close throughout and it’s easy to point to Markanen’s 27 points as a big reason why, but he does that on an average night and the Jazz lose a lot more than they win. I think the bigger fact was rebounding. The Jazz had 3 guys with double digit rebounds. Markanen, Nurkic and Ace Bailey. No Raptors got double digit rebounds. Scottie did his best and continues to be magnificent on both sides, but the lack of an interior presence is still hurting us. Although it isn’t affecting us too badly defensively. The rebounding covered up for Utah’s poor shooting and it wouldn’t have mattered if not for Ingram making a real-time case for him being robbed of an all-star appearance in the 4th. Mamu, Quickley and RJ all played big roles in this dub, especially Mamu. Bobby, I really hope you have something planned for the deadline, we need it.
