“It was nice seeing you Curaçao, but looks your first tournament is ending early. You fought well, but everyone knew you were dealt a tough group. Ivory Coast scored early and then coasted to victory. They even scored a 2nd goal to give Pépé a brace and make their lazy river even more comfortable. Credit to Curaçao, they didn’t just lay down and die, but they couldn’t get anything significant aside from a couple close shots that went just over the bar. Only a couple shots on target and neither were super threatening. Ivory Coast meanwhile hung onto the ball for most of the game and slowly took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half before resting their feet on the dashboard after the 2nd goal. Understandable, but it didn’t make for a great game. Really wish Curaçao had scored just to make this game more interesting down the stretch. Pépé is obviously the stand-out with his 2 goals, but Diomande was excellent on the first one, pouncing on an early mistake. Also loved Opéri’s effort. ”
