“So intense! Nothing is going right for Elche. They play a solid first game, but can’t beat Deportivo. Then they get their doors blown off by Barcelona. Then they come into this game against another team on their level and go down early, then get close to completing a crazy comeback late, only to falter right at the end. Racing Santander came out smoking, helped out by a disastrous mistake from goalkeeper Dituro that set up Zabiri with the easiest goal of his career. Santander didn’t rest on their laurels. They kept attacking and Zabiri scored a hat trick in 35 minutes. With the crowd rocking and all momentum with the home team, it felt like there was no chance for Elche. That was seemingly confirmed when Santander kept up their superior play in the second half. However, one of the best parts about football is that you cannot count teams out completely until the final whistle. Elche, in their beautiful purple kits, scored two quick goals before the 80th minute and had multiple chances.”
