“Much better, both in terms of the game’s quality and the play of Carolina. It gave us a great game that was very intense despite the low amount of shots in goal. There was a real tension in the arena that the Hurricanes needed to win this game. They came into this game with a simple mentality. They needed to bounce back. They could not afford to go down 2-0 heading back to Montreal. While I cannot confirm that’s what Rod the Bod told his team, they played with the sense of urgency that makes me think they thought that. They controlled play and minimized Montreal’s chances. Here’s the thing, the Habs are ultimate opportunists and they took advantage of Carolina’s mistakes and got this game to overtime. Fortunately for Carolina, Ehlers ended the game quickly with a snipe and cemented an electric 2-goal performance to tie up the series. The Hurricanes needed someone to step up and Ehlers did exactly that, just as his fellow Dane and teammate Frederik Andersen did between the pipes. ”
