This game was a dud until it wasn’t. Awful start as the Refs were back on their BS with questionable calls. Carolina was dominating in this low-event game through 35 minutes. Forsberg was locked in and made a sweet glove save at the 8 minute mark in the 2nd period. I was just waiting for the shoe to fall off, one moment changed the complexion of this game. In the final 5 minutes, we finally got some great hockey. Fast-paced, back and forth ping pong type hockey. It peaked with a wild sequence in front of LA’s goal crease where Doughty made a scorpion save. Thankfully, both teams carried that energy into the 3rd. While Carolina were still the better team and getting way more shots, it felt like the Kings were finally getting some momentum. Even when the Canes took a 2-0 win with a Nikishin goal, Helenius scored less than 30 seconds later. Byfield then tied it up with a goal out of nowhere like he was hitting an RKO. We got a pretty chaotic OT because of his effort where Aho ended it.
