“Texas Rangers escape with a win when they had everything in their favour for 90% of this game. The first 8 innings were defined by Rangers’ pitching dominance. Jacob Latz came in as a last-minute replacement for a different Jacob as an opener and did his job phenomenally. Only 4 innings and certainly not overpowering stuff, but no hits allowed, 3 strikeouts and just a single base runner is everything you want in a short stint. The pitching dominance continued as the game went on as Seager and Jake Burger continued to be our best hitters. Unfortunately; the downside of having your starter go so few innings is how it taxes the bullpen and the Phillies exposed that in the 9th when Adolis Garcia, a legend in Rangers lore, helped the Phillies tie it up. That comeback single-handedly boosted this game from a 5-6 to a 8.5 at worst. Thankfully, for my sanity, Andrew McCutchen got his first great moment with Texas as his insurance run ended up being the one we needed to cover our gassed bullpen”
