Grubauer was understandably pissed after this one. Not a lot of action, but there were bursts of speed and great goaltending in the final periods to make up for it. Name of the game early on was rebound control and neither goalie had it. Grubauer couldn’t handle a deflected Dougie shot and Glass scored the first goal because of it. Former Devils draft pick responded with a blast past Markstrom. Hischier blasted a 2nd Devils goal past Grubauer, only for Markstrom to leave a juicy rebound for McCann who tied it up before the end of the 2nd. Both goalies locked in for the 3rd and by both, I mainly mean Grubauer who got peppered by the Devils while Markstrom got to chill. The German goaltender did secure a point for Seattle, but he couldn’t stop Hischier’s nasty OT winner on the backhand. Devils had their chances, just couldn’t get those rebounds when it mattered most as Markstrom managed to keep the doors shut. Hard to blame him for being annoyed.
