What a disappointment. In Ovechkin’s 1500th game, the Capitals lose in pathetic fashion. There was certainly potential. At first I thought I could witness goal 900, but the Capitals didn’t get 10 shots until the 3rd period. There was plenty of beef so maybe we’d get to see some good fights, we even almost got a goalie fight. But the officials made sure that didn’t happen. Maybe the Senators could blow out the Capitals in dominant and aesthetically pleasing fashion. Only the former happened (mostly) and we got the classic ‘goal that we have to wait 5 minutes before we know it counts even though it’s obvious’. What about the tribute to Ovi? Oh wait, the broadcast didn’t even show it. At least Ulmark got a shutout? Nope, couldn’t even have that. I’m sure Sens fans are happy about this and Cozens looked great, but as a neutral, I can’t say I enjoyed this one outside of some nice Sens goals. Pretty much everything in this game was a dud; but the Capitals’ performance being the biggest dud.
