“If San Diego State managed to tie it up, this game would’ve gotten an easy 9 and gone down as an all-time bowl game. Nearly a total disaster for North Texas, but they hung on for dear life. It looked like this would be a high scoring blowout but the Aztecs executed a controlled demolition in the 4th quarter. Bert Emmanuel came in as a QB but basically played running back as he ran for nearly 200 yards and 2 touchdowns while throwing a few passes just for shits and giggles I imagine. Christian Washington and Lucky Sutton also contributed with many rushing yards of their own. Kyle Crum had a tough day throwing the ball so he made up for it by running for a couple TDs of his own. They sadly couldn’t overcome the deficit they put themselves in. By deficit, I mean letting North Texas have, not one, but TWO 150+ yard rushers and Mestemaker’s arm wasn’t too shabby. This was the perfect game if you love offense and hate good run defense.”
