“WHAT IS GOING ON?! In an actual best versus worst matchup, it felt like a throwback to 2023-24, except with worse goaltending for the Canucks and a constant feeling of “surely this isn’t happening” from beginning to end. Max Sasson set the tone of this game right away when he scored just 30 seconds into the game off a bad Manson giveaway. It appeared MacKinnon was both setting his own tone and restoring the natural order when ripped home his own goal less than a minute later for his 50th of the season. Surely the Avs would pour it on, right? No, in fact, it was the Canucks who began to takeover. Blueger scored at the 5-minute mark and DeBrusk doubled their lead 6 minutes later. Landeskog made it 3-2 after the 1st. Maybe now the Avs take control? Nope. 3 unanswered goals to go up 6-2. The Avs wouldn’t go quietly into that good night. They climbed all the way back into this game and managed to tie it with 6 minutes to spare. Only for Marcus Patterson to deliver the killing blow.”
