Had potential, but that potential was squandered. Blue Jackets, we need to talk, I do not appreciate this tendency to blow leads. I don’t care if there was 80% of the game remaining when you got that 2-0 lead, not only are you tormenting Urlrot, but you just made Vegas’s 1st round pick slightly worse. It’s especially shameful because I genuinely thought you completely outplayed and outworked Vegas in the first 10 minutes. Both the scoreboard and shot totals showed that. Then you thought it would be a good idea to let Vegas have free rein for the next 40 minutes. Spoiler: it wasn’t. Right when I thought you were screwed, Marchenko snuck behind the Vegas D and Fantili found him to cut the deficit in half. Despite everything, now would be the time this game got intense. Instead, a lost puck battle triggered a 2-on-1 and Vegas would grab the momentum back. Columbus didn’t lay down, but they couldn’t get anything to scare Vegas nor to keep me on the edge of my seat. I was reclined.
