A close game that shouldn’t have been close. The Red Wings should’ve had no shot. The Leafs dominated both in shots and possession. If anything, the Leafs were getting in their own way with their early penalties. But if not for Cam Talbot, this game would’ve been 5-2. For god’s sake, the Leafs nearly tripled the Red Wings’ shots on goal. But the Red Wings capitalized when they had to. If the Red Wings played Toronto in all 82 games, we’d be saying the Yzerplan is a grand success. Besides Talbot, Appleton with the massive penalty kills for the Red Wings along with the game winner was a big reason why the Red Wings are leaving Toronto with a W.
