The Kings should be kicking themselves for this one, but it made for a pretty good game. Despite the low shot total, this game had lots of speed. Wyatt Johnston broke the tie early by taking advantage of classic terrible team defense. The Kings held the Stars to a very low shot total, yet, they couldn’t capitalize on the other side. Finally, almost halfway through the 3rd, Clarke keeps the puck in the zone during a power play, Perry lays off a sweet backhand pass and Byfield finished it off for the tying goal and Perry’s 500th career assist, kinda surprised it took so long. The Stars nearly tied it up thanks to Rantanen but it was deemed offside. The Kings clearly sacrificed their stifling defensive effort for more offense as the Stars finally got some consistent possession and scoring chances. Culminating in Team USA snub and non-glue guy Jason Robertson sneaking a backhand shot into the net for the game winner. Oettinger was the real star though, kept the stars and the Stars in it.
