“The Sabres show the difference between a playoff hopeful and a true contender despite Columbus’s best efforts. Don’t let the final score fool you. This game looked great on the ice even though the final score ended up being a blowout. Both squads played their heart outs and got plenty of great chances. Greaves made a ton of massive saves to keep it close most of the way and Ellis was solid as steel to achieve his first career shutout. Can’t be mad at how Columbus played, they got plenty of shots and many great chances, Ellis just shut the door. Eventually, the Blue Jackets leaving themselves exposed at the back caught up with them and Buffalo put the cherries on top. There was also somehow plenty of animosity between these teams with a bunch of scraps taking place early on. My personal theory is neither of these teams are used to having so much on the line this late into the season so they don’t know how to act. Thankfully it didn’t overshadow the game. Much better than the score says.”
