Sabres continue their amazing form with a win that may fool you on how it played out with the scoreboard. This was not a mere blowout. Islanders had their chances. Counter attack was the name of the game. Both the Sabres and Islanders repeatedly got chances on their counter attacks by catching their opponent off-guard after stopping a shot. I don’t want to discredits Sabres defense, but considering all the 2-on-1s Long Island got, I have to point at one man as the reason Buffalo won this with ease. Alex Lyon. It’s been a while since I mentioned this; but I really wanted the Flames to sign him. Obviously Cooley has been excellent for the Flames, so no harm no foul, but it does give pride to see a goaltender I pounded the table for performing so well. Lyon made countless great saves to shutdown Islanders chances, many of them being while sliding across the net to catch up to a pass. It wasn’t until the last 7 minutes that this game was decided so every save mattered. What a performance.
