Historic Original 6 matchup. The 1st period was so sick. Zibanejad blasting home the first goal early, Zacha breaking ankles, Quick making wild saves like it’s 2014, a chaotic 5-on-3 PP, and a plot twist with the period ending, only for the period to keep going because Zacha’s flubbed shot barely crossed the line, all while both teams were flying up and down the ice. 2nd period was weird. Trochek got a penalty shot for getting slashed, somehow, but the puck didn’t lie. After that, it all fell apart for the Rangers. Nothing epitomized that more than a sequence more than halfway through the 2nd. Pavel Zacha got his hat trick, Quick got pulled and then Kastelic knocked out Sam Carrick in a fight. That knockout blow ended the Rangers’ hopes. Luckily, we did get 2 hat tricks; making this the first time since the 1940s the Bruins have seen multiple hat tricks on home ice and both were the first career hat tricks for Zacha and Khusnutdinov. Mainly thanks to Pasta’s 1st ever 6 assist game.
