“Not quite an overtime game, but got pretty damn close. The Canadiens continued their blitzing style of hockey in the early goings. The Habs’ speed and skill had the Lightning in their heels. It took longer than Montreal would’ve liked, but by the time 35 minutes had passed, Montreal had a 2-0 lead mainly thanks to the big guns. Caufield’s celebration when he made it 2-0 told you everything. They want this BAD. Don’t forget about Tampa tho. They’ve tasted glory before, they want it again. I truly believe the momentum shift began when Jake Guentzel snuck a goal in the final minute of the 2nd. The shift was not immediate, but it caused a seed of doubt to be planted. Tampa gradually gained more and more control of this game. Eventually, it was Brandon Hagel who tied it up and scored the winner. The Habs just capitulated, both mentally and on the score. They couldn’t generate the same chances and it cost them. Even with that, the final powerplay made this game so intense down the stretch. ”
