“Iraq finally completes their long journey through World Cup qualifying to get the 48th spot in the World Cup and will make their first appearance since 1986. Iraq had to go through 5 rounds of Asian qualifying to get to the intercontinental playoff, including scoring a penalty 17 minutes into stoppage time against the United Arab Emirates. Iraq took the early lead in 10th minute before Bolivia equalized in the 37th minute to go into the break tied 1-1. Then in the 53rd minute, Aymen Hussein scored what ended up being the game winning goal and Iraq held onto the lead the rest of the way.”
