When 1 Florida team falters, the other returns to prominence. The Lightning put the Panthers in their place going into the break. However, that is not what people are going to remember in this game. We’re all excited for the Olympics and the international rivalries, rightfully so. However, don’t forget NHL rivalries have their fair share of animosity. We had a huge scrap that had so many penalties in it the refs had to literally write them down on a piece of paper when announcing them. Matthew Tkachuk and Brandon Hagel even had a 4 Nations rematch and Gustav Forsling was pounding JJ Moser like this is a UFC match. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the fighting and animosity in this Florida rivalry. However, it is a big buzzkill when it takes the officials 20 minutes to figure out what the hell happened and then remember we have 15 minutes left in a 4-0 game. The Lightning got a powerplay out of that mess and made this game even more of a formality with a 5th goal. Still fun to watch.
