(Watched EXTENDED highlights) The Habs jumped out early — Alex Newhook scored first, and Caufield made it 2–1 later in the first. Seattle kept answering though. Jaden Schwartz tied it on the power play, then Jani Nyman deflected one in to make it 2–2. The third period was wild. Montreal took a 3–2 lead, but Jamie Oleksiak and Jared McCann scored to put Seattle ahead 4–3. It looked like the Kraken might steal it, but rookie Ivan Demidov tied the game late for Montreal, setting up overtime. In OT, Lane Hutson set up Caufield, who ripped a perfect shot past Joey Daccord for the winner. Caufield finished with two goals, while Demidov had a goal and an assist. McCann was Seattle’s best player again with a goal and a helper. It was one of those games where neither team really deserved to lose — lots of pace, lots of lead changes, and big plays from the stars. Montreal moves to 3–1, Seattle still hasn’t lost in regulation, but you could tell that one stung a bit.
