“February 4, 2020. I cried that day. The day Mookie Betts was traded to the Dodgers. Mookie was my childhood hero. I started watching baseball in 2016, when I was 6. One day, my dad came home with the Red Sox Topps team set. The top card? Mookie Betts. That season, he eclipsed 30 homers and 100 RBI for the first time in his career, finishing 2nd in MVP voting. I immediately fell in love with him. 2 years later, the magical 2018 season. Mookie hit an astonishing .346 with 32 homers, 10.7 WAR and an OPS of 1.078. Needless to say, he won the MVP. The Red Sox went 108-54 and won the World Series in 5 games against the Dodgers. The Killer B’s ruled baseball. Mookie Betts was the best player on the planet, Andrew Benintendi was drawing Ted Williams comparisons, and Jackie Bradley Jr was one of the best fielders the game of baseball had ever seen.”
