Connor Bedard made his grand return from injury and, in a clear cut example of sports not being rigged, Bedard finished this game with 0 points. It’s not like he didn’t try or couldn’t get his chances. He had more shots in goal than almost any of his teammates, Logan Thompson just shut the door on his and pretty much every other Blackhawk. Although I think Tyler Bertuzzi will leave this game especially angry. The Blackhawks didn’t get to start Spencer Knight so they threw rookie Commesso to the wolves, including the best goal scorer in NHL history. Ovi got goal 916 and made Commesso the 187th goalie he has scored on, both are the most ever. The true star of the show was Washington’s defense. Carlson, Chychrun, Fehervary and Roy were all flying and seeing openings everywhere in stark contrast to the struggle session Chicago’s defense experienced. There’s not much more to say, the Capitals dominate and the Blackhawks stunk. Wish Bedard had scored for a feel-good moment. Oh well.
