The finale of Hockey Day in Canada. Before I start, I’m wishing Leon all the best, he’s out attending to a family illness and I hope they recover with no complications. Anyway, the game itself, it sucked. Vancouver got drenched in oil, set on fire and thrown off a bridge. Absolutely brutalized. 1st period had a stretch where Vancouver actually outplayed Edmonton for like 4 minutes. Once 13:30 hit in the 1st period, Vancouver never had any kind of advantage again. The first period was scoreless… somehow. Canucks couldn’t hold onto the puck to save their life in the last minutes. It was a sign of things to come because all it took was 1 iffy goal for the Canucks to drown. Roslovic, Hyman, Kapanen, Roslovic again, Kapanen again and Podkolizin off a Pettersson strip of McDavid in the span of 13 minutes in the 2nd period drowned the Canucks and trapped them under a cargo ship full of oil for good measure. 3rd period was a formality, I was begging for the end. At least Jarry got a shutout.
