“The Senators win this one with a bit more trouble they probably anticipated. I don’t think Kevin Lankinen got the memo for what Vancouver is trying to do this season. The way Vancouver played tonight would help them easily when the tank battle in any other game. Instead, Lankinen just had to play one of his best games of the season and make it very difficult for Ottawa to score. Luckily, James Reimer was also prepared for this matchup and got his 32nd career shutout and his first-ever against the Canucks. 32 career shutouts is tied with former Leafs goalie Felix “The Cat” Potvin. Aside from the goaltenders, this game was kind of slow, bland and low-event. On one hand, that is a credit to the Senators, a team bouncing back from a brutal start to their season trying to go from doom and gloom to playoff hopeful. On the other hand, this just adds to how down-bad Vancouver is for Sternberg, McKenna and the Ruck twins. Greig of all people broke the deadlock, but I thought Chabot was great.”
