“Alex Verdugo’s first game back at Fenway after being traded for Dick Fitts. Hated that guy. Aside from the fact that he was a horrendous player that gave absolutely zero effort, he was a big part of the trade for Mookie Betts. Genuinely fuck Alex Verdugo. Him homering in his first at bat and overall dominating in this game only rubbed that in. No matter what team he was on, I’d still hate him. I get wanting the drip but if you’re going to do it at least back it up. There’s a reason why I like Acuna and Tatis and not Verdugo and Chisholm (who I still hated when he was in Miami). Got cooked in this game by “Rookie of the Year” Luis Gil. 26-year-old ROTY Luis Gil. Juan Soto signed a $765M contract at 26 and Gil was a “rookie” in 2024 despite starting his career in 2021. Stupid fielding errors continued to pile up in this game and that was really what cost us. Something that was dwelled on the entire 2024 season because it was such a major problem.
