“Real chance this could be a Stanley Cup Final preview, albeit a preview that looked most like a teaser trailer. Gotta save the best parts for the actual playoffs. In all seriousness, this game was good, but it’s clear that both teams were running at 80% in preparation for the playoffs. The great thing about that with 2 fun, fast and forward-thinking teams is even 75% is entertaining. That is especially the case when the difference in play lies on a razor thin edge. Neither team could take firm control of the game for longer than a few minutes. I don’t just mean on the scoreboard (although they were close to doing that). I mean the play on the ice shifted like a sea-saw in the wind. This continued all the way through overtime and even extended into the shootout. I’m sure Alex Tuch and Zach Benson are just ecstatic their years on bad Sabres teams have finally become worth it with a chance at Lord Stanley. Meanwhile, the Stars are thinking Cup Final or bust after being so close recently. ”
