The NHL is back and the Capitals were not ready. Flyers were all over them and they couldn’t enter their offensive-zone for the first 14 minutes. They finally got some consistent pressure in the last 5 minutes, Ovi even got a shot from his office. Still, no dice, and it remained 0-0 after 1 period. Although the shots are close, I wouldn’t say this was back-and-forth, rather they took turns controlling play, with some turns being longer than others. Washington gained more ground in the 2nd period and it took Sanheim literally impeding Vladar in order to the Caps to score the first goal of the game. The great pass from Lapierre also helped. The Flyers got some chances, including a tipped shot from Tippett that hit the post, but no goals. Luckily, Flyers tied it up less than 30 seconds into the 3rd. Philly hung onto it for a bit after the goal. Then the Caps took over and it eventually gave them a goal from TvR, not JvR. Flyers couldn’t get close to a response, even with the powerplay.
