“This was bad for the Rangers from the onset. Altuve and Yordan hitting homers in their first plate appearances against DeGrom followed up by Evan Carter getting thrown out at home after a wild pitch told me right away that it was going to be a long game. It took most of the game for the Rangers to pose any kind of threat and even when they did, either good defense or their own poor hitting cost them dearly in the final innings. DeGrom sadly had one of his worst starts of the season. The problem wasn’t quantity of baserunners he gave up, it was the quality of hits he was giving up. Felt like Houston hitters were waiting on his fastball, ready to crack it over the Crawford Boxes. A small part of me was listening for trash can banging. Jokes aside, Astros jumped on the Rangers and Texas just couldn’t recover. Would’ve been a much better game had Texas looked like they had a chance at any point, but that sadly wasn’t the case. I was surprised they got the tying run up to bat twice in this.”
