“An incredible choke from the Oilers that forced me to completely change this description as it happened. Let’s start with the 1 piece of good news for Edmonton. Good news: the Oilers know Connor Ingram can be a good goaltender. Bad news: He can seemingly only do it against the Blues… and the the defense is not helping him. Going into the 3rd, this was a goalie duel between 2 teams who have dealt with poor goalie play all season. When McDavid glided through the Blues and put Edmonton, I thought it was destiny that Ingram would get his 2nd Blues shutout of the season. Instead, the Oilers’ defense failed Ingram. First, they left Suter wide open in front of him. Then they screened Ingram on a Cam Fowler shot. Then, in overtime, after Hofer kept the Blues alive with great saves, the Blues hung onto the puck just a little too long and Robert Thomas completed the comeback. Connor McDavid has to be livid and I hope Connor Ingram is also mad, he deserved better. Terrific game from Fowler.”
