The classic story: Goaltender proves himself. One team takes an early lead, but their opponent refuses to die easily and does everything to make a comeback. A young stud of a goalie tries to secure the win for his team, but the opponent finally breaks through in the final minute. It made for an exciting game. Jesper Wallstedt was that goalie, and he was on fire. Along with Wallstedt, Boldy was awesome. Both with his body and his stick, he was a force. Fun fact: his shorthanded goal in this game was the first shorthanded goal of his career. For the Canes, it was Jason Blake, rather than create breakouts and using his dangles, he scored on the margins. First a deflection and then a scramble in front of Wallstedt to tie it up. Despite an entertaining regulation, the OT was a bit disappointing… until the last minute. Back and forth, Kaprizov, Blake and Boldy, but nobody could end it. Shootout is the shootout. It’s a tired (and justified) narrative, but Wallstedt made some incredible saves.
