Fast paced and entertaining despite the lack of goals, until the 3rd at least when the Wild crawled into a shell. More importantly, this was Marcus Johansson’s 1000th game, a special moment for a player whose career may be underrated in some circles. Weirdly this is the 2nd 1000th game the Flames are involved in. While not as storybook as Kadri’s, Johansson did manage to get the primary assist on Boldy’s goal that ended up being the winner. Both goalies played well, but Wallstedt managed to get his 2nd career shutout. The Flames had nearly twice as many shots, but don’t let that make you think the Flames completely dominated, almost all their shots spat in the face of shot quality. Bad shots or not, Wallstedt earned the shutout, he minimized rebound generation. Devin Cooley was good too and the Flames really should trust him more. Can’t say much about the Flames skaters other than Honzek tried his best. For the Wild, Boldy. Just Boldy. Such a bold pick, right?
