The Freeway Face-off and the Kings keep blowing winnable games. Byfield opened the scoring by barreling through the defense with first shot Dostal faced and crashed into the boards (he was okay). Despite that, Dostal was wonderful, making a ton of saves to keep the Ducks alive. The problem was the skaters in front of him wearing the orange jerseys for the first half of this game. Thankfully for Dostal’s sanity, the Ducks got a wake up call when Armia doubled LA’s lead. The Ducks abused the Doughty and Anderson mainly thanks to slick plays from Sennecke to tie it up. It’s surely the first time Coach Q allowed abuse of that severity and to ensure his totally flawless reputation was preserved, the Ducks slowly took their foot off the gas in the 3rd period and asked Dostal to save them. Dostal was up to the task, gave the Ducks more confidence to put pressure on LA, and sent this game to overtime. In OT, the game slowed down to a crawl and the Sennecke-Dostal combo won it in the shootout.
