Padres were my 2024 playoff team after the Sox didn't make it, loved Jackson Merrill and Fernando Tatis Jr-still do in fact. Merrill is definitely my favorite player who has never played for the Sox.
Game 1 started great. Of course it was from the one player I hate-Manny Machado. I'll forever hate Bitchado for what he did to Dustin Pedroia. Pedey should be a Hall of Famer and easily would've been if not for him. Ohtani's gotten some knocks for his playoff performances at times but he killed the Padres in this game including a game tying 3 run shot in the 2nd. Another one of the big reasons I was rooting for the Padres, Xander Bogaerts, came up huge in the 3rd with a 2 RBI double, but then Dylan Cease fell apart and the Padres completely unraveled and lost all of their offensive spark. Brutal game one loss.
Also-shows how much Yamamoto grew in the past postseason with his incredible postseason performances, this game allowed 5 runs in 3 innings.
