“This was a very intriguing matchup, WorldCupguy’s favourite dark horse against Germany. The actual game lived up to the fascinating nature it had on paper. This was a very physical game and the ref let that go, mostly. But luckily their questionable activity didn’t distract from a damn good game. After 30 minutes of mostly German-rule, it was actually the Ivory Coast who struck first thanks to Franck the Tank and a mad scramble in the box. the Ivorians proved momentum is real by applying the pressure on Germany after that goal until halftime. In the second half, we got a great story. Undav came in for Jamal Musiala in the 60th minute. He tied the game less than 10 minutes later, swinging momentum back in their direction. Ivory Coast couldn’t get much going and they literally refused to take their best chance (“WHY DIDN’T HE HIT IT?” -CTV commentator). It felt inevitable was going to take the lead and Undav did exactly that at the end to give Germany the win and return to knockouts. ”
