“This was a very close game, typical for an 8-9 seed matchup. These teams came to play and we got a classic out of it. Despite the final score, this game was close the entire way through. It was also a game full of runs. Anytime either one of these teams looked like they were going to finally pull away, the other would go on a run and restore order. The earliest example was a 9-0 run that gave Nova a 2-point lead and ensure this game was close at halftime. Villanova came into the 2nd half smoking hot. Didn’t miss a shot for the first 4 minutes and it allowed them to get the game’s first double digit lead. Utah State refused to give up. They proceeded to go on their own 14-3 run in 2 and a half minutes to tie the game up. In the end, it was MJ Collins who took over and sealed the win for Utah State. Strong cuts, finishing at the rim and steals were the final ingredient he needed to put Villanova down for good and the Aggies earn the win and a chance to face Arizona in round 2.”
