“I was expecting a goaltending duel in this matchup. Logan Thompson and Devin Cooley have been 2 of the best goalies this season and with a mediocre offense and an anemic one, surely it would come down to the goalies. Instead, we got a bit of a barn burner. The Capitals jumped all over the Flames in the 1st period. The Flames didn’t get totally overwhelmed, but the Caps did a great job of capitalizing on the chances Calgary gave up. The 3rd goal was the perfect example. Backlund and Kuznetsov are right on top of Sourdif and he somehow sneaks a pass past every Flames to Connor MicMichael who is left alone and he finishes. Credit to Calgary tho, they fought back. They looked better in the 2nd period. Gridin sniped one home and Calgary got 2 short-handed goals to make it a 3-3 game. They couldn’t carry that momentum to the 3rd, Washington took control back and won easily. The game was closer than 7-3 says, but I didn’t think Calgary had a chance when Washington went up 4-3. Could be worse.”

I was expecting a goaltending duel in this matchup.
