I did not think Washington was this reliant on Logan Thompson, but this game makes me rethink that stance. The Capitals got toyed with by a superior Dallas Stars squad. Dallas had nearly twice as many shots as the Caps. Started badly for Washington when Chychrun and Logan Thompson either got their wires crossed or fell asleep, but regardless, they let Faksa glide in for a goal off a rebound that he should’ve never saw. It didn’t get any better after that, Stars maintained control up to the last 12 minutes of the 3rd when the Caps showed some urgency. Even then, they couldn’t get much. Ovi added to his goal record, 2 minutes later, Hintz sealed it with an empty netter. Logan Thompson stood in his head just to make this game possible for his team and it wasn’t enough. Sam Steel was the stand-out. Sure, he gets the game-winner, but that effort to get the 3rd goal to Wyatt Johnston was incredible and another example of the Caps lacking awareness tonight.
