“In the words of me, this game was a “prime 6/10 candidate”. The first half of this game was really good, but 1 mistake clearly shook Iraq to their core and they never recovered. Haaland made his World Cup debut with style by scoring a brace, just not in the way he probably thought it would happen. Credit to Iraq for not laying down and taking a beating from Norway, they fought hard, even in the face of adversity when Haaland opened the scoring with a powerful strike to make it 1-0 less than 30 minutes in. Just when everyone thought Iraq was screwed, Aymen Hussein scored an equalizer 10 minutes later. It looked like we were getting another Japan-Netherlands type game, only for Iraq to basically give Haaland his 2nd goal. Still, there was hope this game could still be great. That hope died quickly as it was clear Iraq was rattled and Norway played with their food until they chomped down with goal #3 and forced an own goal to rub salt in Iraq’s wound. That moment drops this from a 6. ”
