@FlameRaptorRaven's rating of Maple Leafs vs Islanders

@FlameRaptorRaven rated the Maple Leafs vs Islanders game 9.2 out of 10 in NHL on January 4, 2026. Final score: Maple Leafs 3 – Islanders 4. Reg. Season. Fan ratings and discussion on RateGame.

I will die on this hill. This game was fucking awesome. It had 2 things that I love seeing no matter which team it is (with a few exceptions). First, history being made. Coming into this game, Austin Matthews was 1 goal behind the legendary Mats Sundin for most goals in Leafs history. The game was relatively quiet in the first period, didn’t mean it completely lacked action. But it really heated up in the 2nd period. After a quick Islanders goal jolted the home crowd, Matthews would silence them with part 1 of history. A tremendous solo-effort from Matthews gave him to tying goal both in this game and in the record books. He followed that up 10 minutes later with a goal from his office that would give him the lead in the record books and this game. But Matthew Schaefer tonight was gonna be his proving ground for superstar status. He tied it up in the 3rd with a solo effort almost identical to Matthews’s goal and then won it in OT. The narratives had me salivating, awesome game.
