NFL AFC Champ.01/25/2026
If you took a photo of this game in the 4th and didn’t tell anyone what the final score was, I bet they would say this is a gorgeous iconic game. Unfortunately, this Rematch of the 2016 AFC championship game 10 years later was a dud. While it was definitely a defensive war that had its moments; it was mainly personified by one offense being okay and the other being hopelessly inept after the 1st quarter. Drake Maye, to his genuine credit, adapted to the Broncos. The best play was to drop back, go through progressions and run for the first down. He did exactly that to seal it with a run for a 1st down in the final minutes. Other than Maye, the Pats offense really struggled. Surtain had Boutte in a straight jacket. Hunter Henry was dropping passes. Mack Hollins had 1 catch (although it was a big one) and the running game couldn’t get any momentum. They just played better than a soulless Broncos offense that couldn’t get any footing in the snow. Gonzalez put the nail in the coffin.
