“Lots of points but without the drama to make this a true shootout. Also the game that helped seal up an all-time single season collapse. Yes, the Colts lost Indiana Jones which alone is an understandable reason for a team to go from Super Bowl contender to missing the playoffs. However, the Colts are only the 6th team EVER to miss the playoffs when starting a season 8-2. It hadn’t happened since the 1995 Raiders, only the 9-2 1993 Dolphins have a more humiliating collapse and the Colts are, of course, the first team to have this kind of collapse with both a 17 game season AND the 7th seed to play for. That’s enough twisting of the knife, back to the game itself. First half was pretty good. Colts really struggled to capitalize after their first TD, but Rivers looked good throwing that TD. 3rd quarter is where it fell apart in my mind. Jonathon Taylor tried to revive both his MVP case and the Colts’ playoff hopes but the 49ers were too much for their broken defense to handle.”
