“Glad we ended on a high note in term of game quality. Clearly the basketball gods saw what happened in the Arizona and Florida games and decided 1 more top 2-seed needed a scare to show the magic isn’t completely gone. Furman was chosen to give that scare and boy did they. The Paladins were white hot from 3. Their shots had to be blessed by a higher power as they were all ripping through the net. Including a buzzer beater from Charles Johnston to make it a 6-point game going into halftime. That shot also made sure the Huskies had to stay on their toes. Furman would make it as close as a 4-point game, but they weren’t able to take the lead themselves and I hold 1 man mostly responsible. Tarris Reed became the 2nd man ever to put up a 30 point and 20 rebound game in NCAA tournament history. He nearly put up a 30-30 game! The first 30-25 game since Elvin Hayes. Even better, Reed didn’t commit a foul until the final seconds. An incredible performance and the saving grace for UCONN.”
